As If By Chance
A live, site-specific performance on the streets of Tallaght exploring stories of love and intimacy - staged in September 2022.
As If By Chance took audiences on a walk through an urban landscape, moments of which they experienced via their mobile phones, with an original soundtrack by composer Robert Coleman. During the walk, audiences chanced upon three couples - Patricia & Michael Toah, Pat & Joan O’Sullivan, and Cathriona O’Grady & Gary McEnroe - and witnessed shared moments between them, enhanced by songs woven into the performance soundtrack. The songs were commissioned from three local songwriters: Pius Gojo, Amy Naessens and Nick Stanley.
Performances began at the entrance of Rua Red, South Dublin County Arts Centre, running 21-24 September 2022 at 6, 7 and 8pm, with tickets at €7.
The team behind the music all came through youth music collectives in South Dublin County - Amy, Nick, Hugh and Rob are past participants of SubSounds, while Pius is a member of NOISE Music. “One of the aims of these programmes is to prepare young artists for careers in music, and commissions of this type are invaluable to them. Collaboration is essential for the emerging artist. It broadens their creative vision and their artistic community.” - Martin Moran, Director, AltEnts.
